The wrong shoes....

The wrong shoes....

Apart from the techno festival that has been going on all weekend, and has now thankfully finished, there was almost a disaster on Sunday.

A small motor boat, with a family on board, wanted to drop off some passengers at one of the pontoon fingers. The man on board tried to jump from the boat onto the finger, slipped and fell with his leg caught in the handrail, ending up head first in the water, hanging by his leg. I was on a boat drinking G & T's at the time and the other person saw it happen, so we did a 50 yard dash. By the time we arrived he was out of the water, but very shaken. A couple of other people also turned up from nearby yachts (Aren't the boating community great!). The boat was secured, and they all left after thanking us.

The man had hurt his leg but nothing appeared broken, he will probably have some interesting bruises tomorrow. A good outcome, considering he could have hit his head on a cleat or the pontoon. The hand rail will also need repairing, but that is secondary.

What do we learn from this? Well apart from the child in the group, they were all wearing flip flops. I say no more.
