Ongoing work with Weir ..

Happy new everyone I hope your every wish will be fulfilled .. Well after bringing Weir around to her new berth its been a time of looking , planning and having to wait for good weather.. One of the important projects I am waiting to start is to cut out the rotten decking just behind the cockpit.. but we are having so much wind and rain presently I can't think about starting it. At the same time as that I will also replace the stern bits . In 2 weeks the masts are coming out.. I have found a local guy with a hiab crane for a reasonable price, but to do this I will have to move Weir around into a drydock (which floods and ebbs on the tide there we can get a better purchase around the spreaders. For those who are owners of wooden boats it may be interesting to know that I have to pump about 5 litres every 24 hrs (thats including a forementioned dodgy deck that lets in a little water , so I am encouraged that when the deck is finally watertight then internally the boat should be quite dry. I am going to Oil the masts ..with about 7 -8 coats of Deks Oyl 1 . The reasoning for this is that if its exposed to sea spray then it shouldn't deterioate like varnish.. We have surived the winter up to now.. very pleased .. I am adding some more photos to my album for those interested ..
