Easy sailing and kicking back Bodrum / Turkey / Datcha / Greek Islands
- Bodrum, Turkey
*** UPDATE *** Monday 6 July 2020 Here at London - Stansted. The reason for this update? To respond to those who asked me to share what the travelling experience has been like ( at least out of UK ) I can honestly say that after travelling well over 500,000 air miles in the past 10 years this is the most relaxed, pleasant and indeed SAFE trip that I think I have ever taken. Less than 12 flights in 4 hours leaving here; lots of controls; social distancing; security took 4 mins in total. Everyone is relaxed, chilled, smiling and there is a pervasive sense of calm. Zero food / restaurant shops are open here, and there is a single coffee trolley without any queue. There is just a BOOTS open for essential chemist, sandwich, drink and other food provisions. And all the flights seem to be on time. It doesn’t get any better than this!!! So for those of you concerned regarding safety, subject to my onboard experience (upon which I will elaborate tomorrow) it does all seem very safe and secure. I would have been far more exposed to risk had I gone food shopping to the local UK supermarket! *** UPDATE 2 *** (23/6/2020) Flights now booked. First sail is from Monday 6th July on board to 16th July inclusive or part thereof. Physically flying to the boat on Monday 6th and plan to sail pm 7th or early am 8th July (weather dependant). Intention is to sail toward Datcha and Gulf of Gokove. Must return to Oren Marina by 14th to hand her over to colleague. So it's a quick week afloat. *** UPDATE 1 *** Turkey and Bodrum southern coast appears to have ‘opened’ for business. JPC is good to go and based at Oren. She is being used 19-27 July by a fellow owner for just 1 week. After that she is free till ‘at least’ mid-September. Thanks to those who have expressed interest so far. Lovely connections made. My guess is that most will be up for a week or two at most so others who could be interested do please make contact. Thinking it would be best for guests to have their own cabin and maybe two might have share a head (3 in total). Open to a conversation if you are interested to explore :-) Flights for EasyJet from UK appear heavily booked but Pegasus Airlines and Turkish seem to fine and I have recently found flights via Istanbul for just over £100. Internal flights are available Istanbul SAW to Bodrum/Milas (BJV) for £29-33 presently on skyscanner. PS - :-) most have been female applicants (which is great) but it sometimes adds balance to have another guy along too *** END-OF-UPDATE *** (20 June 2020) Travelled last year after joining the yacht in Mykanos and spent a couple of weeks sailing through the Greek Islands and back into Turkey. We adopted a new home for JPC in Oren, about the same distance from Bodrum to the east. Importantly approx 30 mins from Bodrum-Milas airport. Cost approx £20-£25 max. Actually likely to be less but don't like to mislead. Would expect there to be shared costs whilst on board. Nothing extravagant - just normal approach to healthy eating, fresh air, food and drink. Lockdown seems to be releasing slowly. Easyjet have announced flight re-start in July. If you are interested do please drop me a line either as a message on here and introduce yourself and your interest in coming along. "Thanks"
