North Wales Boat Show

North Wales Boat Show or All Wales Boat Show

The North Wales Boat Show has been established since 2008 under the guise of the North Wales Festival at the Faenol Estate in Bangor.  For 2013 the show is under new management and has been relocated to Conwy so it is better located to attract more visitors from North Wales, the North West of England, Isle of Man, West Midlands and Ireland.  The boat show runs from 24th – 28th July 2013.

The North Wales Boat Show will span the River Conwy with two main sites, one in Conwy Marina and one in Deganwy Marina.  A fleet of water taxis will link the two.  Incorporated into the show this year is the Conwy River Festival which celebrates its 20th anniversary. The festival provides traditional racing and up to 70 on-the-water displays.

Exhibitors this year include Rodman, Chapparal, Fairline and Sunseeker.  Also joining the show are rib manufacturers, marinas, wooden boat craftsmen and luxury car makers.

There are plenty of “have a go” opportunities for visitors, including the chance to try some sailing, kayaking, diving and bath-tubbing!

For younger visitors, Challenge Wales, Wales’ tallest sail training ship will be at the North Wales Boat Show.  Challenge Wales want to raise awareness of their charity which encourages young people to get involved in sailing and crewing.  Challenge Wales director Vicky Williams said: “We haven’t had many people from North Wales sailing with us and that is one of the reasons for coming to the All Wales Boat Show.   We want to raise awareness of the charity, find new volunteers, and to let young people and youth groups know that we have a bursary fund for those who live in North Wales, which makes sail training accessible for them. Our bursary fund supports Welsh residents aged 12 – 25 years. We will also be running a competition to win a day sail for two on Challenge Wales and visitors to the boat can also book up for a future voyage, whether young people or adults.”
