the Island Yacht Race"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Round the Island Race<\/h1>\n<p>This year celebrated 80 years of the Round the Island Race (RTI) hosted by the Island Sailing Club. \u00a0The island in question is, of course, The Isle of Wight.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I was not lucky enough, or good enough! to take part in this year&#8217;s yacht race, but it is on my to-do list for next year. \u00a0I had to settle for joining in the evening&#8217;s entertainment on Saturday night instead!!<\/p>\n<p>Myself and two loyal friends caught the Fast Jet ferry from Southampton over to Cowes on what turned out to be a very lovely evening. \u00a0The town was heaving with very red-faced, Sebago-clad sailors. \u00a0The atmosphere was lively and jovial. \u00a0We had a quick bite to eat then headed for the beer tent and live band area. \u00a0This was even busier than the town. \u00a0What can only be described as a huge electronic billboard, listed the round the island race results and the evening&#8217;s entertainment. \u00a0Race-goers could drink their beer while watching the results coming in and listening to the very good live bands. \u00a0A great evening was had by all, even the non-racers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lovesail.com\/ls-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/RTI-004.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
