If your passion is sailing and you\u2019re looking for a sailing soul mate, then Lovesail can help.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"771\">Running a dating site is hard work but fun and enjoyable. One of the many tasks I undertake is approving new profiles. As part of the Lovesail screening process, when new members join and write their profile, it needs to be checked and approved, <strong data-start=\"738\" data-end=\"748\">or not<\/strong>, as the case may be!<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"773\" data-end=\"928\">As you can imagine, I have read a great many profiles over the years, both good and bad. For whatever reason, some people feel the need to embellish, exaggerate, or just plain lie when writing a profile.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1104\" data-end=\"1321\">Who will ever know? Well, think ahead a little. If you do meet your soul mate, at some point you\u2019re going to have to come clean and admit that you can\u2019t dance\/sail\/cook. This isn\u2019t a good start for any relationship.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1323\" data-end=\"1456\">If you lie about things from the start, how is your future partner ever going to trust you? <strong data-start=\"1415\" data-end=\"1456\">Be honest, and that includes your age!<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1458\" data-end=\"1461\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"1463\" data-end=\"1483\">2. Positivity<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1485\" data-end=\"1714\">No one likes a grump. When writing a profile, try to be as positive as possible. Modern-day life has many challenges, leaving people very busy. One consequence of this is that we assess situations, and people, quickly to save time.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1716\" data-end=\"1902\">So, faced with choosing between someone who <em data-start=\"1760\" data-end=\"1788\">loves\/enjoys\/has a passion<\/em> for something, and someone who <em data-start=\"1820\" data-end=\"1857\">hates\/gets irritated by\/can\u2019t stand<\/em> certain things, I know which one I\u2019d choose!<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1904\" data-end=\"1948\">A positive tone makes you more approachable.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1950\" data-end=\"1953\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"1955\" data-end=\"1980\">3. Short and Sweet<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1982\" data-end=\"2157\">When writing a profile, try to keep it short and sweet. You don\u2019t need to run through your entire life story. Save that for your date, it will give you something to talk about.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2159\" data-end=\"2185\">Just write a little about:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2186\" data-end=\"2271\">\n<li data-start=\"2186\" data-end=\"2212\">\n<p data-start=\"2188\" data-end=\"2212\">Why you\u2019re on the site<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2213\" data-end=\"2240\">\n<p data-start=\"2215\" data-end=\"2240\">What you\u2019re looking for<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2241\" data-end=\"2271\">\n<p data-start=\"2243\" data-end=\"2271\">Your hobbies and interests<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2273\" data-end=\"2505\">On Lovesail, members indicate whether they\u2019re looking for <strong data-start=\"2331\" data-end=\"2341\">dating<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2343\" data-end=\"2357\">friendship<\/strong>, or <strong data-start=\"2362\" data-end=\"2370\">crew<\/strong>, and share what type of connection they want. You are <em data-start=\"3110\" data-end=\"3115\">far<\/em> more likely to be viewed if you have a photo on your profile.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3179\" data-end=\"3203\">When choosing a picture:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3204\" data-end=\"3350\">\n<li data-start=\"3204\" data-end=\"3253\">\n<p data-start=\"3206\" data-end=\"3253\">Make sure it is clear and correctly oriented.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3254\" data-end=\"3325\">\n<p data-start=\"3256\" data-end=\"3325\">Avoid photos where you are tiny in the distance or lost in a group.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3326\" data-end=\"3350\">\n<p data-start=\"3328\" data-end=\"3350\">And remember to smile!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3473\" data-end=\"3597\">Put some thought into it. Consider the lighting and background. The best photos for Lovesail are of you <strong data-start=\"3579\" data-end=\"3594\">out sailing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3599\" data-end=\"3873\">If confidence deserts you, then at least choose one from your holiday collection, or even your boat.
