- About Me:
Widowed, love sailing, the ocean and animals.
I’d rather be on the water, than on land!
I’m planning on taking off in a few years, to cruise the east coast of Australia, the South Pacific and beyond. And would love to find my perfect salty-sailor-soulmate to come too! I've just purchased a Catalina 320 MKII, to be my 'stepping-stone' to a larger, blue-water cruising boat. I'm planning on sailing locally, doing short coastal hops and spending lots of time learning boat maintenance and increasing my boat handling skills. Over the summer holidays, I intend on practically living aboard!
I love all aspects of sailing/living on a boat: from being the ‘galley wench’ to getting dirty working on the engine; to navigating, or just learning new skills every time I step onboard.
I can’t get enough of being on the water - I also enjoy surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, swimming and ‘hooning’ around in my 4.2m powerboat.
- Sailing Experience:
I discovered sailing six years ago and have been addicted ever since.
I race keelboats twice per week, at club level. Owned an etchells for 12 months but now race on a 38’ Northshore Sports, a Bavaria Match 42, Elliot 780s and anything else that needs crew!
I also sail/race my laser on weekends and days off.
Intend on leisurely sailing and staying onboard my Catalina as much as I can.
- Sailing Qualifications:
RYA Day Skipper but would rather log miles!
Currently studying RYA Yachtmaster theory, planning to complete practical component by end 2020.
Hoping to do occasional yacht deliveries next year, to start gaining offshore miles.
Australian Sailing Safety Boat and Race Officer quals.
