Who are we?
Founded in 2003, Lovesail started life as a small social networking site for sailors based on the South Coast of the UK. It remained this way until 2010 when the previous owner decided to sell.
Enter Erica. After being the stay at home mum for 15 years, Erica had recently split from her long term partner and had responsibility for two teenage children.
Anyone can imagine re-entering the workforce after all that time was difficult. To supplement her income she looked for other options. That’s when she saw Lovesail. A keen sailor herself (and newly single!) the opportunity seemed too good to pass up.
Flash-forward to the present day and Lovesail now has members in over 100 countries, from all walks of life.
As Erica’s children grew, so did the site. Erica began to think of succession and wanted to ensure her children became self-reliant so they weren’t left in the same position she was. After graduating from university both came back to live at home and started learning the ropes.
Now the running of the site is shared between the three of them (Yes we have two family WhatsApp groups - one for work and one for everything else!) with additional support from skilled professionals and friends. You know who you are!
It’s genuine. By hand approving every new sign-up before they’re given access to the site, you can be safe in the knowledge our members are real sailors.
It’s personal. We’re a small family team and we sail too. If you have a query or a problem you can talk to a real person who understands your needs. We don’t hang around either, you’ll get a reply in under 24 hours - usually a lot less.
It’s niche. Finding love can be difficult especially if you spend a lot of time on the water. What better way to spark a conversation than a common interest? Here on Lovesail we all have that one thing connecting us.
It’s for a lifetime. Our lifetime memberships create a sense of community. Members keep coming back for friendships and crewing. Meet friendly faces to guide you on your sailing journey.
