A look back at one of our past Lovesail giveaways
Back in 2014, we ran a giveaway for a signed copy of Rain Later, Good – Painting the Shipping Forecast by Peter Collyer. The competition is now closed, but the book remains one of our favourites, a wonderful celebration of the poetry and mystery of the Shipping Forecast.
Rain Later, Good is the award-winning story of Peter Collyer’s extraordinary journey around the Shipping Forecast areas. Broadcast by BBC Radio 4, the Shipping Forecast is a national institution, relied upon by mariners but also strangely comforting and poetic to landlubbers.
First published in 1998 to great reviews, Rain Later, Good was chosen by the RNLI to celebrate its 175th anniversary and has sold over 25,000 copies.
Peter Collyer’s brilliant and detailed paintings conjure up some of the most mythical maritime locations, while his idiosyncratic text provides fascinating insights and anecdotes. He introduces readers to the people who live and work in these regions, sharing snippets that bring each place vividly to life.
