About me, god I hate these things, but here we go. I was an avid four-wheeler for many years (Jeep/Toyota). Camping, Horseback Riding (had a training facility for a while), Rock Climbing, Biking, ect ect, I think you are getting the idea. Anything outdoors for the most part, kind of do not like feeling confined in a small space.
I have always had a thing for the ocean and have always been fascinated by boats, and what I have heard about the cruising lifestyle. I remember the fist time I was out on a sailboat with my uncle many years back. The first time was a smaller boat (a Catalina 30 I found out), and I loved the feeling of how it felt like gliding across the water. Then I got to go out on his 68-foot Katch, that was something amazing. I can still remember how the boat felt loose as we motored out past the brake water, then the sails went up! The way the deck and rigging seemed to come alive and tighten up as we turned to catch the wind and sail. All that could be heard when the motor was cut was the wind, waves, and soft classical music that he always put on when the sails went up. A feeling that is still there every time the sails go up today.
I love to travel and see new places, and meet the people that live there. Because of this I kind of figure that a sailboat is the way to go. What better way to see the word!? Someone once said, “it is not the destination, it is the journey”, I see the truth in this.
I am currently looking for a 45 to 55 foot Katch or Cutter rig to do this on. I will confess to being a little overwhelmed by the amount of information out there on different boats, but I think it is worth it to take the time and to the homework. So many books to read! Figure spend a couple of years in the Bay Area (or somewhere else) getting familiar with what I find and getting her ready, then never looking back while chasing sunsets.
