- About Me:
After working for nearly 45 years I am now retired and am looking to make the most of my time.
My personal motto is “Life is an adventure not a dress rehearsal” and the COVID19 pandemic and lockdown reminded me that sometimes our plans can get totally thrown with no warning.
With that in mind I have not made too many plans. I am at a stage in my life when excessive planning or too many rigid expectations just get in the way of living life to the full.
Now that the lockdown is easing (July 2021) I am spending as much time aboard as I can, around family and voluntary commitments. It means I am aboard about half my time.
I have been extremely fortunate in that I have met a very special someone who looks like she will be my ideal sailing partner, through this website. So I am 'off the market' for dating but please feel free to contact me for friendship and crew options
- Sailing Experience:
I have been sailing since I was 18. Raced a Fireball in the 1970s and crewed on the classic yacht VOORTREKKER(sail no SA1) in the Vasco da Game race in the 1970s, but I am now a sedate cruiser.
Did a lot of sailing on various boats in the Cape area of South Africa.
Chartered in Greece and BVIs from 2003 to 2017.
Have owned 3 boats, Leopard 39 in the BVIs which was wrecked in hurricane IRMA, an 8m vd Stadt which I restored and is now owned by my son, and, my present boat, HADEDAH, which I bought in 2018.
I have sailed in the Solent for the last 2 years.
