- About Me:
Life's fullness exists around the next bend, or just over the horizon. I'm still working, but getting close to the big day when I hope to be sailing... somewhere with a wonderful lady that can show me the ropes.
I'm a little shy for the first 30 seconds but it usually passes rather quickly. I've been told that I have the gift of encouragement. I love to laugh at myself, so encourage others to do the same. I never drink unless I'm awake, I do know where to draw the line, I just can't remember who came up with the idea,,; probably the same person that invented work.
I'm a heavy drinker, 205 pounds fully clad; 200 if I pitch the smart phone. Actually I don't drink at all but plan on learning how. I thought sailing with captain Morgan was someone who chartered cats in the BVI.
On a more humorous note, i'm a avid cyclist with over 26,000 miles on my Klein Quantum Pro. I usually ride 25 mile trips several time a week to keep the ticker in shape. I Hold a private Pilots License (single engine land) and love flying whan I'm not cruising on my Harley.
Spent several years globe trotting as a freelance humanitarian. Have a big heart for homeless people; especially those with substance abuse issues. And also helping orphanages in several parts of the world, especially in Romania.
I Lived in Venezuela until Hugo arrived ( not the hurricane), and picked up a survival level of Spanish, and absolutely love the Latino culture, which is full of love and life. I could picture myself living on the coast of Columbia, chasing wales and occasionally crashing at one of the many awesome echo hotels scattered along the shore.
- Sailing Experience:
On my 60th birthday, I was given a few hours aboard a Beneteau In the Gulf of Mexico. Just enough “engine off” time to feel what has been on my bucket list for 40 years!
- Sailing Qualifications:
Have an excellent grasp of navigation, to include aids to navigation, charts, and equipment such as chart plotters, GPS , proper radio communication, collision avoidance, and the importance of "being" on watch.
I carry a private (Aircraft) pilots license, allowing additional experience in navigation and weather.
