About Me:

Destination is not important, sailing is about the journey. Watching the weather. Victualling for the voyage. Prepping the vessel; working through the list. Visit to the fuel berth. Sailing at first light. Passing the breakwater. Keeping a lookout for traffic, ear for the radio. Open sea - Cormorants, then Shearwaters,... see one low over the waves, wait for its mate... and the second one comes into sight. Dolphins maybe, if we are lucky or Tuna sparkling over the waves a Turtle, or a lazy Sunfish, fleeing Flying Fish or all of the above. Wind shifts, tide rips, a squall, then a calm, sunset. Maybe in port for the night, maybe a night sail. Venus rising, lights on the horizon, ships passing, cocoa at the change of watch.
In port, after the admin, check out the nearest market and supermarket, restaurant, café. Then exploring the port interested in architecture, art galleries, churches, museums.

2020 update. I saw lockdown as a time for art, personal growth, revising priorities and physical training and then focussing on sailing in August, achieved RYA Day Skipper. In September sailed Gibraltar - Seville with the sailing school.
2021 Now focussing on a fresh future.
I have closed my Graphic Design business and am currently (March 2021) making some changes to my home.
April - July 2021 I plan re-fitting my Ron Hollands Eythene 24 1/4 tonner.

Eclectic musical tastes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Phil Collins, Phil Collins Big Band , Smooth Bossa Nova, Popular Classical.

Sailing Experience:

Been mucking about on boats since 1986. Slipped and departed Dover 1991. 2 years live-a-board inland waterways: Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Schelde, Zeeland.
While based in Gibraltar I have crewed for all sorts of sailing trips along the Costa del Sol, crossed the Strait to Spanish Ceuta and Moroccan Marina Smir regularly. Known many nice boats, sail and power. Sailed on several training boats and yacht deliveries, around the Western Med.
Two deliveries were real mile builders, up the Portuguese coast, across Biscay, North Sea, Kiel Canal and into the Baltic.
The most recent 'work' was collecting a power boat in Palma, Mallorca and port hopping to Gibraltar 24 hour run, great fun.
August 2020 day sailing in the Bay of Gibraltar. Started the day skirting a fog bank and finished with a broad reach back home in glorious sunshine, hottest day of the year in Gibraltar. Since then a further 5 days including visits to nearby ports in Spain.
