- About Me:
After a maritime absence from this site for some years, I have decided to expose myself online again, so to speak, with the perhaps idealistic and rather utopian thought of meeting someone special on the site as a sailing, travel and maybe even life partner.
Born in Norway, reasonably well bred and educated in the Netherlands & the UK, having lived and worked in the UK for more than 30 years, and now living on a boat, I still do not cease to be enthralled by the wonders and adventures present in our world.
If you are also a free spirit, of independent mind, gentle, calm, and above all with a stable and well balanced psyche, and thus not allowing the ego to mess things up, into travelling away from all the tourist traps, with a reasonable education, and therefore postulating that Game of Thrones must be something about Thomas Crapper’s invention, and if you like adventure and have a positive dislike for our current celeb culture, if you are reasonably sporty, and also into sailing, and perhaps windsurfing and scuba diving, this world citizen would love to hear from you.
My musical tastes are quite eclectic. I do love my prog rock, and have been an ardent Camel and PFM fan for over 40 years, but I also like ELP and Renaissance, even some Yes and (Peter Gabriel) Genesis, but I can also be partial to Yann Tiersen, St Preux, Chopin's Nocturnes, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23, and Bach's Violin Concerto in E Major. Basically any music that really stirs the soul, and that one would want to have available when marooned on an island.
“May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face. And may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.”
“Let's renew all those lovers' ties
Summer lightning in your eyes
It keeps on dancing.
I've always known love
Would return to lighten the darkest day
We will meet again
Further on in later lifetime
Past the skyline, I'll always be your friend
Send my love to you
There'll be no sad goodbyes”
- Sailing Experience:
Grew up sailing and racing in dinghies. Sailed in Western European waters during the 70s/80s. Avid windsurfer since the 80s. Lots of singlehanding off the west coast of France during the late noughties and early teens, one transatlantic trip in 2012 and 5 consequent seasons in the Caribbean.
Been scuba diving since the 70s, having dived in such diverse places as the Galapagos, Papua New Guinea, the Red Sea, the Green Holes in Ireland, flooded quarry pits in South Wales, and still keen to see some of the sites in the Pacific before mankind ends the world.
