About Me:

sail and wind happy

South Coast UK sailing occasionally found further from home.

2019 sailing from Brighton and Chichester.

Have collected 4 Snapdragon 27s (Calamita, Nerthus, Random and Winter) for leisure flotilla trips around Essex, Suffolk, Kent; looking for volunteer crew for social weekends and other trips.

Currently rebuilding a Colvic Watson 34 as well as maintenance on my Snapdragons.

Yacht Random is a Classic 1968 Mk1 Snapdragon 27; that has had a complete rebuild during 2016/17. Almost everything on this yacht is new including the engine, windows, running rigging, pumps and safety equipment. It has been fitted out for 2l1st century living with lots of usb sockets for mobile phones, led lighting, hot water for the galley and heads which now has a shower. A 2016 electronics package includes: AIS Transponder , VHF Radio, Speed log, Depth guage, Wind guage, Chartplotter with down and side view sonar for fishing. In short this is a well found yacht.

Yacht Nerthus is a 1969 Snapdragon 27 Mk2; she had a refit in 2016, including 100% replacement of all hoses valves and through hull fittings, sa repaint, new toilet, she also had an engine change and a survey in 2016. Impvovments also included a New electronics package AIS Transponder, GPS Radio, Depth guage, Log/speed guage, Wind guage, led lighting and plenty of usb sockets for phones and tablets.

Yacht Winter another Mk2 Snapdragon 27 underwent refit in 2017, 100% hose valve and through hull fitting replacement. Engine replacement addition of hor water system for galley and heads. Running rigging replacement. Winter benifits from an previous interior refit providing a wood finish clever storage and wheel steering.

Yacht Calamita is a fine example of a 1969 Snapdragon 27 Mk2. Immaculately crafted wooden interior providing a classic look. Yacht Calamita is rigged for broads and Thames short handed cruising complete with mast lowering a frame to cope with bridges and a east holding tank. In 2017 she had a freshen up with deck paint the compass and depth guage got replaced.

Providing mile building opportunities for aspiring skippers in between RYA courses to build experience, without the expense of yacht ownership or charter costs.

Hope to find a good crew for extended cruising in the future.

Sailing Experience:

blown about having fun in the odd gale in small and larger vessels. Mostly visiting UK South coast ports in England, occasional visits to other waters.

Love the North Sea with its high average wind speeds, shallow waters and good tidal range, "fair weather does not a good sailor make".

RYA qualified.
