I just finished taking a boat only 80 miles to it's next owners slip.
Motor sailed then motor bashed after the block at the top of the mast gave way at about 2100. We got to the boat at 5am. Engine would not start so the owner went for a battery because the starter battery was junk. Finally got underway at 1030. Beautiful day not enough wind until we got north of point Doom. Sloppy wind chop and motor sailed into the wind all the way to Oxnard. 12 hours on the water. Yosh was an excellent helms person and crew especially when the block exploded at the top of the mast and released the main halyard. She maintained a good position so we would not rock and roll while trying to contain the boom and sail. We entered the harbor and drove the boat around for a bit until the owner could figure out where his slip was. Only had to tie up twice. Boat and family safe and snug in Oxnard.
I'm tired after getting home at 130 this morning. Thankful for In N Out burger being open until 1am.
Morale of the story. Make sure you have a trusted crew member on board especially if you are unfamiliar with the boat. Yosh was a lifesaver being a great helmswoman.
