About Me:: I am a 66 year old divorced reasonably fit woman looking to meet other sailors and to continue enjoying the very special experience of sailing on the East Coast. I have spent countless quiet mornings at anchor as fog is lifting with a cup of hot coffee and felt on top of the world. Similarly, have spent many summers out on boats with turbulent winds and water, enjoying the day’s mood. I am no longer a young woman, but want to embrace the power of wind and water while I can contribute something meaningful to sailing.
Sailing Experience:: I grew up in Minnesota crewing on 16 and 18 foot Hobie Cats my older brother raced, serving as ballast on trapeze and trying not to make mistakes that would slow us down! We did pretty well. Much later, living in Westchester County above NYC with my husband and 2 children, I re-entered sailing life. My husband was an accomplished sailor, and we took to summer vacations around the east coast on our 35 foot J boat with kids and our small dog in tow. After overwintering costs wore us down after 15 or so years, we began chartering out of Southport, Maine. I have served as substitute skipper on the open sea, but my real strength is in the galley, where I never get seasick and can always rustle up simple meals and coffee.
