- About Me:
Since meeting circumnagating sailors in the Cook Islands in 2008, I have had a fascination with sailing the world.
I got my ASA Coastal Skipper Licence in Thailand in 2014, and my rescue diver scuba ticket in 2012. I still would like to do more scuba diving, liveaboard a sail boat ASAP and sail the world when responsibilities, funds and the universe allows.
I am from England, left home at 18 and now an Australian Citizen. I am based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland until my 8 year-old daughter leaves for university, travelling or to do the opposite of her Mum and go live in England to get to know the rest of her family.
My daughter’s dad lives locally and cares for her about 50% of the time. He doesn’t want me to take her away voyaging during school terms. But he said he’d like to take her camper-vanning around Australia, so at some stage I can take her sailing for a long spell too - perhaps to do the World ARC if I find a boat to do it on, or buy my own boat to live and voyage on before she leaves school.
There are a couple of nice marinas here to live in, and anchorage spots. There’s Fraser Island to explore - the largest sand island in the world, lady musgrave - a coral atoll lagoon, lady Elliot island, bribie island, north and south stradbroke islands, Moreton island and the Gold Coast - all not too far away for school holidays sailing.
I’m a passionate musician - I like to sing, play piano, guitar and flute. I’d like to learn to play violin, banjo, mandolin and saxophone too. I like paddle boarding in the flat water of the canals here, reading - mostly non-fiction and getting out and about around the Sunshine Coast watching live music and performing myself.
My daughter likes to play drums, dance and wants to be a cheerleader.
I figure that my soul mate will be kind, healthy, a good listener, a good communicator. He won’t sulk, display anger or disappear when things get tough - he’ll have learnt how to assertively communicate - but I’d also like to keep working on that together as nobody is perfect and trying to relate to each other would be like a dance - stepping on each other’s toes or going the wrong way until we’ve practiced a bit.
My favourite books are “the honeymoon effect” by Dr Bruce Lipton (about having a relationship that feels like a honeymoon everyday by working at it together) and “Attached” by Amir Levine (about healing attachment styles - from anxiously and/or avoidantly attached to securely attached).
I hope we all meet our soul mates in this lifetime :) Fair winds
