About Me:

I've been sailing on our family boat, a 1976 Valian40 for about 28 years. I absolutely love the water and being on my beloved boat. I have been caregiving for my parents for the last fifteen years and as hard as that was, one of the perks was spending time on the water between rounds of chemo and all the ugliness that is cancer. Sailing brings me joy and peacefulness. I live just north of Seattle Washington, although I'm still Canadian. I'm single, no kids, and just sort of wondering what is around the corner. I have now inherited the boat since my dad died two months ago....honestly, I am really wondering what I should do with her. A forty foot 38 year old sailboat is a lot for me to handle on my own...mulling over the possibilities.

Sailing Experience:

I've sailed for 28 years on the Valiant, done some Thunderbird sailing as well. Sailing the little Ranger Minto dinghy is a hoot and probably more fun than should be legal. I've sailed mostly the inland waters of British Columbia, but also around Vancouver Island about ten years ago. I've sailed in all kinds of weather and I love it all. I've never been officially captain and I admit docking her still kind of scares me mostly because I just haven't done it much. I'm a pretty relaxed sailor and don't consider myself an expert by any means but I am reasonably competent. I've always been the official ships' navigator..when we did the Vancouver Island circumnavigation I did it with just paper charts and a compass. I admit to loving the GPS now, although it makes me feel lazy.
