Sailing Word Search
Here’s a bit of fun this week with a sailing word search. The history of the word search seems to date back to the 1960’s. Norman E Gibat designed and published his first word search in 1968. However, a Spanish inventor called Pedro Ocon de Oro had also been playing with the idea and published his Sopas de Letres (soup of letters) in the 1970’s.
The largest word search has 10,000 words and 129,600 letters, It was created by Ashish Dutt Sharma, in Rajasthan, India, on 18 October 2015. Professor Sharma, Principal of the Apex Institute of Engineering and Technology in Jaipur, designed the word search to help his engineering students learn technical terms and the names of prominent scientists and inventors in English. He dedicated ten years to developing the puzzle and it is a Guiness World Record.
So a slightly smaller soup of letters for you to while away a quiet afternoon with, of course, a hot cup of tea and a ginger biscuit.
Feel free to print out the sailing word search or just click and drag your cursor to highlight the words.
