Wingssail

I grew up as a powerboater and always spent far too much of my money on boats. That did not change when I switched to sailboats at age 28. Since then I have sailed and raced on many people's boats in a lot of different roles, and in many locations and events, but cruising was always my main source of relaxation and peace. I sold my last powerboat at age 35 and bought my own sailboat which was a 30 sloop. In 1986 I bought a 43ft sloop which I still own (yes! since 1986 the same boat) and I have sailed and circumnavigated in that boat ever since, mostly double handed with my now deceased wife. I am still active racing and this spring have had to good luck to win two of the last three races we participated in.

While circumnavigating I visited about 35 countries. We also raced the boat in many places around the world.

I do my own maintenance and I am a sailmaker. I have had a USCG operator's license for up to 65 ton, ocean, with a sailing auxiliary. I have taught adults and children sailing for about 40 years.
