Southampton Boat Show 2022

Calling all members, Britain’s biggest boating festival is coming to town.
From the 16th – 25th of September 2022 Southampton’s Mayflower Park will host over 100,000 boating enthusiasts looking to explore everything the leisure marine industry has to offer from kayaks to superyachts and everything in between.

Rated as one of the top ten boat shows in the world with over 450+ exhibitors, 350+ boats on the marina and 300+ boats on land this is the perfect place to get your sailing fix!

For those who aren’t already familiar with the show, here are our top 3 personal favourite things to do:

1. Check out the on-the-water zone: The perfect place to enjoy some action-packed fun on the water. Most of the activities are free but require pre-booking to avoid disappointment on the day. With ‘Get Afloat’ you can try your hand at:
– Dinghy sailing
– Kayaking
– Paddleboarding
Sessions are 1 hour and all equipment is included, (just remember a towel!).

With ‘Try a Boat’ you can choose from 40-foot sailing yachts, classic inshore cruisers, RIBS and more to see what tickles your fancy.  ‘Try a Boat +’ (at a cost of £20+) allows you to stay out on the water for longer on some of the most adventurous, historically unique boats/ships like the Morgenster.

Or if you’re looking for something a little less fast-paced, why not hop aboard a free mini cruise (or a 20-minute voyage around the Solent to be precise) – no pre-booking is required.

2. Take a stroll around the marina: Boasting hundreds of the world’s most prestigious yachts, you simply cannot visit the boat show without a nosey around the pontoon. If you’re anything like us (enjoy channeling your alter ego on board a multi-million-pound sunseeker) then you might like to check out the predator 65’s UK debut during your visit. There’s no harm in dreaming right?
You can take a sneak peek of the marina with this video.

3. Gain some tips and tricks at the Foredeck Stage: From expert advice on choosing the right boat for you or on sailing around the world without fossil fuels to hearing about one man’s solo attempt to cross the Atlantic in the world’s smallest boat, there’s something for everyone at the show’s Foredeck stage.  Surrounded by bars and delicious street food, this is a good excuse to sit back, relax and soak up half an hour of amusing, inspirational and informative talks all in the name of sailing.  You can check out the Foredeck schedule here.
