March 2012 Vol.1 Issue 7 – Casamara
Casamara need Crew
Many of you will be familiar with Casamara, the Discovery 55 that took part in last years ARC Race and posted daily updates of the race on this blog. After a fantastic crossing, they now need to sail her back to the UK from St Lucia. Her skipper is looking for experienced crew that would be interested. Free passage and food is on offer as is an opportunity of a lifetime. They will be leaving Rodney Bay, St Lucia around 22 April 2012 and taking about 30 days to reach the south coast of England stopping off in Bermuda and the Azores. You will need to be an experienced sailor, coastal skipper minimum, and get yourself to St Lucia for departure around the 22 April. If you are in the Caribbean it would be an ideal opportunity to travel to the UK for the Olympics! If you are interested please drop me an email through the contact page of the website (link at the bottom of any lovesail page) and I will pass your details on to the skipper.
We are giving away 3, 1 year gold memberships to the site in our March Competition and it’s very easy to enter. Just tell me the top 3 sailing website you visit. A New Year’s Competition
So the snow never arrived and with temperatures of 12 degrees C today, I guess that’s it for the chance of snow for another year. It did make for a very lovely walk through the water meadows though with Milo, so I’m not complaining, and what better way to start the year then with a competition.
This months competition to win a years gold membership to the site is very easy. All you need to do is “like” our Facebook page during January and your name will be put into a hat and a winner drawn on 31st January 2012. The winner will be announced on the Lovesail News Blog. Here for a link to the facebook page otherwise copy and paste this link into your browser www.facebook.com/lovesail Good Luck.
Last months winner of the Photo Competition and a years gold membership was Caribejohn with his picture of Lucy the dog. See here to see the winning shot, a very deserved win I’m sure you will agree.
Congratulations also go to Scubad1ver who entered the competition and won the months gold membership.
Any members visiting the London Boat Show this week, I am in and out throughout the week so if you would like to meet up for a yarn/drink then please do send me a message (Lovesail Erica) or email me through the contact form. It is always exciting to meet the members.
Wishing you all, but more especially my 16 year old, a happy Winter-een-mas.
Thank’s to those of you that have sent in your sailing pet pictures for the Lovesail photo competition. The prize for the best photo is a years gold membership to the site. Below is the gallery of entrants:
Autumn has definitely arrived in the South of England so time for a competition.
I am looking out of my window over the front garden, the sky is blue and the sun is peeking over the roof tops. It is time to clear up the leaves that are falling from the Hornbeam. November has also seen the delivery of a Lovesail dog, Milo a 10 week old Dalmatian puppy. He has run full pelt into our lives and we are all totally smitten with him. He has such a wonderful personality. I’m not sure if he has any sea-legs yet, they do feel the cold apparently so this should be interesting. I wonder if Musto make dog coats?! Maybe I should go into competition.
I still have some 6 month packages to give away to sailing club and charities for use as prizes. Please contact me if you know a worthy cause.
Regular competition spot
I am going to start a regular competition spot (!) and this December I am giving away a years gold subscription to the site. All you have to do is send in a maximum of 2 photos on the theme of “sailing and pets”. Email them to the Lovesail site (contact details at the bottom of the home page) with COMPETITION and your username in the subject bar. I will post the photos on the blog gallery and then the most popular one will win. Please make sure they are your photos, and that you do not mind them appearing on the blog. Please send in all photos by 11th December 2011 and the winner will be notified by 31st December 2011. Membership will start on 1st January 2012 and there is no cash alternative.
Please keep checking the Lovesail blog we have some great guest blogs at the moment. We will also be posting some from the ARC race which it due to start tomorrow. Julian Kimberley one of the directors from GN Espace is taking part in the race on-board Casamara a Discovery 55. He will be providing fresh meals made from fresh ingredients for the six hungry crew, throughout the duration of the crossing. He wants to highlight that good healthy and nutritious food can be made on board wherever you are sailing. He will be writing a blog when he can and sending it via satellite to Lovesail. We wish him a Bon Voyage and look forward to following his progress and reading about his adventures.
As always please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries, and feedback about the site is always welcome. Dog training feedback would be especially useful too!!
Yours with sore ankles
