Recently separated, getting an amicable divorce (after 21 years). We just drifted apart, but remain friends. I wanted to sail the world (or at least some coastal stuff), she wants to sit safely at home playing with the grandkid. I’m a retired Fire Captain in my 50s, 6’0”, 205# (working on shaving that down, time to ditch the dad bod) blonde, blue. I’m in reasonable shape, though not the athlete I once was after blowing my back out twice on the job (structure fire in 2014, 600# stroke patient in 2016) and losing a kidney to cancer (from firefighting foam, now cancer free). I am an Atheist, trust science, am a left leaning moderate who doesn’t care for extremists on either side (read: MAGA, deeply religious people need not apply). Completely hetero but a staunch LGBT ally. Not in any hurry to date, just kind of seeing who’s out there, maybe pick up some crew, and if we click…?

Over 35 years sailing. Learned on my dad’s Catalina 27 on Lake Tahoe in the early 90s, sailed dinghies (AMF Force V, etc.) for a few years, bought a Macgregor 25 (swing keel) trailer sailer that I got about 20 days a year on sailing Tahoe, Folsom Lake, and others for about 15 years. During the same time I was also sailing with my dad on his Catalina 30 in San Francisco Bay, as well as bareboat chartering (/skippering) a Hunter 41 DS for a weekend trip to Catalina Island. After retiring from the fire service (last 10 years as a Captain, I also spent 10 years on the water rescue team) I got my USCG Captain’s license (OUPV / “6 pack”) with towing endorsement and have been doing sailing charters in San Francisco Bay aboard my Pearson 33-2, with 100 charters under my belt (and about a half dozen or so rescues of kite boarders). I have also helped to deliver a Catalina 30 from Long Beach (LA area) to SF (400 nm) and a 65’ power yacht from SF to Oak Harbor, WA (near Seattle).
